When the one cheating is female, she's labeled a slut and identified with a scarlet letter resulting in her character being questionable at best. When her male counterpart is caught cheating he might be called a dog or a jerk for some time, but unfortunately in our society it's also kind of expected. Isn't it? Let's be honest, there really isn't a scarlet letter to be worn by unfaithful men. Now, we're not saying that cheating doesn't have an effect on men, because it certainly does. However, it's almost as though because we expect it from them, we accept it. I'm sure you're familiar with the phrase, "men will be men."

Some women may feel like due to slim pickings they have to put up with much more than they would ever get away with. The confusion seems to lie in whether or not these women are agreeing to have an unfaithful partner or just taking what they can get for the sake of being in a relationship. Either situation seems quite unfortunate if it's not your vision of an ideal partner. Cheating is a breach of the relationship contract, but unlike breaches in other contracts it's something that is tolerated time and time again without drawing up a new one or walking away from the deal.

Whether you're male or female, you have to decide when enough is enough. Just because the jury isn't fair in it's depiction of the cheater doesn't mean that you have to fall into the trap of settling for less.
